Creation of a new basement level
The project, also known as the Mountbatten Hotel, involved underpinning all existing and external brick walls of the heritage building to create a new basement level within the building footprint.
Geotechnical investigations highlighted weak strength soils (not rock) and the presence of ground water adding further complexity to the overall project.
